At FBC Flora, we believe that worship is a vital and life-changing experience that draws us closer to God and each other. Our Worship & Music Ministry is dedicated to leading the congregation in heartfelt worship that glorifies God and edifies the body of Christ.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create an environment where everyone can engage in worship through music, prayer, and the Word of God. We strive to inspire and equip people of all ages to worship God with passion and sincerity, recognizing that worship is a continuous act of devotion in every aspect of life.

Traditional Service

Our Traditional Service, held at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings, features timeless hymns and classic worship elements that create a reverent atmosphere for worshipers of all ages. Led by our Adult Choir, this service provides a rich and meaningful worship experience grounded in the heritage of our faith.

REFUGE Service

The REFUGE Service, held at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays, offers a contemporary worship experience led by our REFUGE Band and Praise Team. This service is dynamic and energetic, with modern worship music that connects with worshipers in a fresh and powerful way.

Wednesday Night REFRESH

Our Wednesday Night REFRESH service offers a unique blend of contemporary and traditional worship styles. Meeting midweek, this service provides a time of spiritual renewal, combining the best of both musical traditions to create a worshipful and reflective atmosphere.

Matt Hines

I started at FBC Flora in May of 2024. I am responsible for planning and leading worship services. I also direct the FBC Adult Choir, Children's Choir, and REFUGE band. One of my additional roles in the church includes maintaining and upgrading the church's audio/visual equipment.

I earned both my Bachelor's of Music Education and Master's of Music Education/Choral from Mississippi State University.

Throughout my career, I have led numerous ensembles in the Clinton Public School District and Hinds Community College. I also led the Refuge service for ten years and have recorded two EPs.

Born in Abilene, TX, and raised in Kosciusko, MS, I grew up in a household deeply rooted in faith, with my father being a preacher and a professor of New Testament, Greek, and Hebrew. My personal interests include watching and attending Mississippi State athletic events, traveling with my family, reading, cooking and smoking meat, watching movies with his family, playing video games, and working out.

I am married to Laura Hines, a special education teacher in the Clinton Public School District. Together, we have three boys: Noah, Abel, and Levi.

My philosophy on worship emphasizes that it is a nonstop act with no separation between sacred and secular. I believe that everything we do should be an act of worship to bring glory to God, with the heart being the most important component of worship.

My favorite hymn is "It Is Well," and my current favorite praise song is “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake.
